LATITUDE Lecture Series

2009-2010 Season

ADF_poster_ftThe LATITUDE lecture series aims to explore other high latitude environments similar to Alaska, to further a dialogue dealing with design issues unique to Alaska and northern environments.

Our goal is to explore building and design in the circumpolar regions in a practical way that does not romanticize the setting. With the current global awareness of climate change and melting icecaps, understanding the implications of design decisions in the far north is more crucial than ever.

  • How can we responsibly build and live in these extreme environments?
  • How do we plan and design for the changes global warming promises if it cannot be forestalled?
  • What can we learn from our peers?
